Dr Abdul-Haq Bhorat

Dr Abdul-Haq Bhorat s tarted work at Technikon Natal (one of the two institutions which merged to form what is now known as the Durban University of Technology) as a Television Camera operator and obtained qualifications as follows:
1. National Diploma in 1987 specialising in Industrial Photography.
2. National Higher Diploma in Photography in 1990 (An investigation into the Sugar Industry in KZN).
3. MTech: Photography (2006) Establishment of a Multimedia Centre at Durban Institute of Technology.
4. DTech: Language Practice (2014). A curated online educational portal for staff and students at a University of Technology.
5. Participated in a Web Based Teaching and Learning Online module through the University of KZN and DUT(2007)
His doctoral studies equipped him for higher degree supervision at an advanced theoretical and technical level (i.e. for digital multimedia and e-learning).
In addition, his studies have generated sufficient theoretical and technical content for future publication in journal articles and book chapters.
Current duties include the management of the Photography Programme as well as teaching the Diploma and supervising BTech and MTech Photography students at the Durban University of Technology.
Dr Bhorat actively promotes the participation of students in both local and international photographic competitions. He introduced simulated learning in 2006 by undertaking graduation photography for DUT which addressed the issue of the link between theory and practice of the Photography Programme.
